Eastern Ranges School provides a researched based teaching framework, TEACCH, within which the school delivers the AusVels and implements the students Individual Learning Plans for students with autism. The school has recently relocated to Ferntree Gully where it is beginning expansion into the secondary years. This year the school offers P-7 years and will continue to expand through an annual additional year level that will see the school becoming a complete P 12 years school by 2018. The schools location offers an environment that provides community access, offering students the opportunity to generalise their learning goals, promote independence and optimise access. Eastern Ranges School has recently developed a Professional Learning Certificate- Autism developed to Masters level competency. This will have a future pathway to a Masters in Special Education delivered in partnership with Australian Catholic University in 2014. Limited capacity for enrolment ensures the school is committed to supporting teaching colleagues in mainstream schools to develop and enhance their knowledge in autism.
