Glengollan Village

Glengollan Village was established in 1956 and provides residential aged care at various levels. It houses around 250 residents, within 135 independent living units and a 90 bed aged care facility providing High care, Low care, secure dementia and respite care. Glengollan is run by a voluntary Board of Management, employs around 120 staff and has around 80 support volunteers.

The primary purpose of Glengollan Village is to assist each resident in meeting their life needs, whether they need to live independently, require assistance with daily personal maintenance or full time nursing care.

To provide support in a caring environment, so that each resident’s well being, dignity, independence and security is assured.

Independent Living Units

Glengollan Village offers 125 independent units. The village spans over approximately 12 acres in the beautiful leafy suburb of Ferntree Gully, in Melbourne’s outer east. The village is close to Ferntree Gully railway station and has bus stops directly outside the property. The units have either 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms and some have their own carports or garages.

The units and main grounds are maintained by Glengollan’s own maintenance staff and our ‘Village Liason Officer’ is on hand during office hours to help with any concerns you may have.

There are two community clubrooms which provide an area for our residents to meet and join in one of the many social groups. There they enjoy each others company for carpet bowls, billiards, craft groups, happy our and many other social gatherings. There is also a resident run social group which organises various outings during the year.

Low level care

Glengollan Village’s Hostel, known as ‘Violet Lambert House’, provides modern, yet homely accommodation for 42 residents (including concessional residents) with low care needs, including 4 respite places.

This is a non denominational facility and is fully Government funded, as well as having current Certification and full Accreditation by the Aged Care Standards & Accreditation Agency.

High level Care

Glengollan’s Nursing Home provides a caring environment combined with modern facilities for 48 residents, including 1 respite place and a separate 15 bed dementia area.

This is a non denominational facility and is fully Government funded, as well as having current Certification and full Accreditation by the Aged Care Standards & Accreditation Agency.

Glengollan Village has five respite beds available, four in our hostel section for low level care and one in our nursing home for high level care. (At this stage we do not have secured/dementia care for respite).

Dementia Care

Glengollan Village has a secured dementia care area that caters for 15 residents. The building was completed in 2010 and the area has been purpose built for residents that need a secure environment.

Each resident has their own room with ensuite facilties. The area has it’s own dining and lounge areas, as well as a ‘quiet’ room with special sensory aids and equipment designed for people with Dementia, Alzheimers and other memory related impairments.

As well as a lovely internal environment, there is also a garden area and covered courtyard for outdoor activities within the secured area.
